Flyers Host Washington, Mason Starts In Net

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Flyers will look to make it two straight wins tonight as they welcome the Washington Capitals to South Philadelphia.

The Flyers snapped a five-game losing streak on Tuesday night as they defeated the Ottawa Senators 2-1 in a shootout. That win also snapped the Flyers ten game shootout losing streak.

With 37 points, Philadelphia sits tied for sixth in the Metropolitan Division. They are tied for 13th in the Eastern Conference.

Washington has 49 points and that is good for third place in the Metropolitan and sixth in the East.

Good news on the injury front for Flyers goalie Steve Mason. After a scare yesterday when he had an MRI after leaving practice early with what was called "soreness," the veteran is expected to make the start tonight against the Capitals.

This is the first of four meetings between these two teams this season.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Sarah Baicker of CSNPhilly.com to talk about this match-up.
