Man Indicted On Murder Charges In Trenton Shooting

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A Trenton man has been indicted on murder charges stemming from a fatal shooting in the city this summer.

Mercer County prosecutors say 36-year-old Tomarkus Whitfield also faces three weapons charges in the indictment handed up by a county grand jury. It was made public Tuesday.

Whitfield is charged in the June 16 slaying of 33-year-old Pinky Priester, who authorities say was shot "multiple times." Priester was found lying in the middle of a street and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigators soon obtained an arrest warrant for Whitfield, who was captured in Trenton by federal marshals on June 24. He remains jailed on $750,000 cash bail, and it was not known Tuesday if he has retained an attorney.
