5 Injured In NJ House Fire

SAYREVILLE, N.J. (AP) — Five people were injured when a fast-moving fire severely damaged a central New Jersey home.

It's not yet known what sparked the blaze in Sayreville, which was reported shortly before 3 a.m. Monday.

Emergency responders rescued two people from the Main Street home's roof, while police helped another resident escape through a rear door. Two other people who had apparently jumped out of the home were found on the front lawn.

Two victims — a 54-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man — suffered burns and traumatic injuries. Three other men — ages 27, 59 and 83 — suffered less serious injuries.

Further details on the victims conditions were not disclosed.
