Report: Pennsylvania Social Media Users Among The Most Humble

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – You've heard them referred to as "gloaties" before. Now, a new app has ranked the most "braggadocious" U.S. states.

HeyLets, an app that lets people share experiences "without social pressure to look cool or impress each other," reportedly asked 2,500 social media users across the country to rate the number of self-promotional posts – for example, work-related good news or special trips taken – they typically make, referring to them as "brag-ommendations."

According to the results, Californians are the most prone to social media bragging, with 77% admitting they regularly post "gloaties" or "brag-ommendations." Residents of Washington and Nevada came in second and third, respectively.

New Jerseyans were also some of the least humble, with 60% saying they post regular self-promotional status updates (and a 10th place ranking). Those living in Delaware came in 12th.

Pennyslvanians, on the other hand, were ranked the seventh most humble social media users, with just 39% acknowledging they tend to post brag-ommendations.

So, where are the country's least likely to brag?

Utah – just 22% of people living there regularly take to social media to congratulate themselves. Oregon and South Carolina were close behind at 26% and 33%.

And in case you're wondering, people are apparently most likely to brag about travel, with "attending a special event" or "meeting a noteworthy person" in second and third.
