'Healthy Pa.' Enrollment Begins Today

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Healthy PA enrollment starts Monday.
Uninsured Pennsylvanians whose annual income is less than 138 percent of the federal poverty limit can apply for health coverage through the state's new "Healthy PA" program, which offers subsidized, Medicaid-like insurance plans through private health carriers.
The program could extend health insurance to as many as 600,000 low-income Pennsylvanians. Coverage could begin as soon as Jan. 1.
Pennsylvania is joining 27 states in agreeing to collectively accept nearly a trillion dollars in federal Medicaid expansion money that the 2010 Affordable Care Act authorized.
However, Gov. elect Tom Wolf has opposed Gov. Corbett's plan, instead favoring a straightforward Medicaid expansion. So it's unclear what's going to happen.
Members of Wolf's transition committee have said new enrollment would not be interrupted.
