Search Continues For Missing West Chester University Student

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The search resumed Saturday for a West Chester University student who went missing early Thanksgiving morning after leaving a bar in Manayunk.

Police say 21-year-old Shane Montgomery went out to Kildare's Irish Pub on Wednesday night with a cousin and some friends, but he never made it home.

Authorities say he became separated from them and was escorted out of the bar by a bouncer around 1 a.m. after stumbling on a bar stool. No one has seen Shane since.

About 500 volunteers, led by Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue, were split into groups of 25. Many of them were carrying flyers, going door to door as they searched Main Street in Manayunk and the nearby banks of the Schuylkill River.

A tree lighting and caroling event scheduled for Saturday night in Manayunk was cancelled as a result of the search, and officials were planning to hold a candlelight vigil at Canal View Park.

The family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Shane. He is described as a 5'11 white male, weighing around 135 pounds with a Celtic cross tattooed on his back. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-3353.
