John Kincade On Why Super Bowl Is Not In The Cards For The Eagles This Year

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia native and CBS Sports Radio host John Kincade joined the Sports Beyond Measure podcast this week to touch on an array of topics. Kincade is now a host in Atlanta and also hosts the nationally syndicated "The John Kincade Show."

This week, Kincade tweeted out his latest 'Power 6' in the National Football League and his hometown team was missing from the bunch. Kincade talked about his rankings and exactly where he sees the Eagles in the grand scheme of the NFC.

"There are different groupings of teams in the NFL," Kincade said. "The Eagles fall into the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, the teams that are good, but they have to prove it to be considered among the elite club."

Despite the Eagles 7-3 record, it is not unfair to ask a bit more of the team at this point in the season. The Eagles have only defeated one team that currently has a winning record (Colts) and have lost to every other team that they have faced with more wins than losses (San Francisco, Arizona and Green Bay).

"They've lost to the three best teams they've played which tells me Chip Kelly knows how to beat the mediocre and bad teams, but he hasn't shown me yet that he can beat the good teams," Kincade said.

Kincade did point out that he credits Kelly for the job he has done since taking over the Eagles and he added that he is proud to support the team under Kelly's leadership. However, he added that "all he's done is take the declining Andy Reid product, slap a coat of paint on it, do a little renovation and get them to be good."

Kincade set the bar at 11 wins this season minimum and a playoff victory. For Kincade, that would equate to progress for Kelly's team. He does see a win coming for the Eagles on Sunday when they take on Tennessee.

"The Eagles know how to beat the bad teams. They just can't beat the good teams so Sunday afternoon will be a party at the Linc."

So what does Kincade think of the Eagles chances to reach the Super Bowl this season?

"Chip might get us to a Super Bowl someday, but it's not going to be this year. They ain't sniffing it this year.

"Until this team gets a quarterback that can lead it, there's no chance this team is going to be hoisting a Lombardi Trophy...0.00% chance."
