Jordan Matthews Emerging As Big Time Weapon For Eagles

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Eagles will be looking to bounce back from their worst loss of the season, a 53-20 dismantling at the hands of the Green Bay Packers, as they began to shift focus to the 2-8 Tennessee Titans.

It was ugly at Lambeau Field, but rookie wide receiver Jordan Matthews says they can't dwell on it.

"You never want to get too high or too low in any type of situation," Matthews tells KYW Newsradio. "Just got to go back and learn from it and put it behind you."

Matthews spoke to KYW Newsradio on Monday afternoon after talking to students from William D. Kelley School about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Matthews was one of the few bright spots in Sunday's loss to the Packers. He caught five passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. In his last three games, the second round pick out of Vanderbilt has caught 15 passes for 285 yards and four scores.

"Naturally, I'm starting to get a little bit more comfortable in the offense," Matthews says. "But, at the same time, I look at myself on film and still say I know I'm not where I want to be or where I need to be for this team. There's still a lot of areas I need to improve on if I want to be an all-around receiver. I don't want to just be good in one area. So I'm still going to continue to work on those things, it's just going to be a process from here on out."

The transition from college to the NFL can be a difficult one for players, but Matthews seems to have a good grasp on how to handle life in the pros.

"It's not too different than life before," Matthews says. "Really, to me, it just feels like college without class to be honest. I feel like your life changes as much as you let it, so I continue to keep my circle extremely small. I spend a lot of time talking to my family and friends, I go see them whenever I can. And then I don't try and stretch myself too thin, I don't want to change into [a] person that I'm not. So I'm still the guy from Alabama that I've been my whole life. So it hasn't been too hectic or too strenuous, just focusing on football and trying to get better as a player and a person."

Matthews and the rest of the Eagles host the Titans on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
