Atlantic City Alliance Agrees It Should Disband

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Been there, done AC.

Now it's time to move on.

That's the message from the Atlantic City Alliance, the group created to promote the struggling seaside resort to other parts of the country.

It penned the signature "Do AC" promotional campaign.

The alliance says it agrees with a recommendation by Gov. Chris Christie's Atlantic City recovery panel to use the group's $30 million a year to help Atlantic City's finances, including funding a new public-private development corporation.

Borgata president Tom Balance, who is chairman of the Alliance, says it was a great idea four years ago.

But he says the city and the casino industry's needs are so great now that it makes sense to use the money where it can do more immediate good.
