Rainy And Cooler Conditions Ahead

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It was another mild day today across the Delaware Valley with high temperatures well above average in the 60s.  However, Philadelphia was the warm spot reaching 72 degrees, 12 degrees above average.  Now, changes are on the way as the next storm system will bring some needed rain to the Delaware Valley on Thursday.  Since September 1st, Philadelphia is 2.31" below average in rainfall, so this will be some welcomed rain for the region.

Rain should begin to move into the region from the southwest late tonight.  Expect periods of rain on Thursday, especially during the morning, so you can expect the morning commute to be slower.  The rain may be more showery during the afternoon and come to and end late in the day. Overall rainfall amounts should be around 1/2 inch to 1 inch and temperatures will be much cooler with highs in the upper 50s to near 60.

Behind the storm, windy and colder conditions return for Friday. There will be some sunshine but high temperatures will return below average in the mid 50s.

Saturday will be colder but less windy with highs only near 50 degrees, a good 10 degrees below average.  The roller coaster temperature ride continues as highs slowly moderate early next week, before another shot of cold air returns late next week.
