McCoy On Sanchez: 'He's A Starter, He Can Play'

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The news has come down that the Eagles are going to have to win some games without their starting quarterback. According to a report, Nick Foles will miss somewhere around six weeks due to a clavicle injury.

In steps Mark Sanchez.

LeSean McCoy is confident that the Eagles can stay on the winning track with Sanchez in at quarterback.

Despite his confidence, McCoy understands that the Eagles paid a hefty price for their win over the Texans.

"It's like you won the war, but you lost a lot of your captains," McCoy said during The Players Lounge on Monday.

Several back ups will be forced to step in for the Eagles and McCoy will be working very closely with one in particular.

"It's hard to look at Mark as a true back up," McCoy said. "He's started in this league. He was a high draft pick. He was productive for a nice time with New York and he didn't have as many weapons."

McCoy explained that he believes that in Philadelphia, the Eagles give Sanchez a better run game, a better offensive line and better receivers than he ever played with while on the Jets.

The Eagles running back also believes Sanchez has the mental make up to go along with the physical tools needed to keep the team on track.

"Mark is confident," McCoy said. "He knows he can play. Usually when a back up comes in it's let's hand the ball off or throw a quick pass. He goes up for 60.

"He's a starter. He's made tons of money in this league for a reason. He can play."

Sanchez will get his first chance to be the Eagles starter next Monday night against the Panthers.
