Pennsylvania State Police trooper Tom Kelly says they're now using a large mylar balloon. Kelly says the device, similar to a weather balloon, was donated by the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The balloon is tethered, unmanned and, unlike the helicopters also being used in the investigation, is silent. Kelly says it has been deployed in the area of the Alpine Mountain ski resort, in Henryville, Pa.

Authorities say it is just one of the many types of technology being used for the search.
