Reading Terminal Market Recognized as a 'Great' Public Space

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market is getting national recognition as one of the best public spaces in the United States.
Carol Rhea, of the American Planning Association, was at the market for the announcement:
"It has been designated one of this year's great public spaces as part of the American Planning Association's 'Great Places in America' program," she said.
Shoppers at the market today agreed with the selection.
"It's definitely a place where you can easily come to," said one man, adding, "Lots of variety in terms of food."
Other shoppers noted the diversity of cultures and foods.
Reading Terminal Market was the only Philadelphia location on this year's list of 30 great places in the country.
"It's a staple in the city, so this is the best place to pick in Philly," agreed another shopper.
