Frontier Air Marks Return to PHL With One-Day, Bargain-Basement Fares

By Pat Loeb

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you're thinking about going to Florida in January, you might want to check out Frontier Airlines' web site today. The airline today announced the return of service in and out of Philadelphia International Airport with one-day-only, fifteen-dollar fares to Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.

The fares were available today only, and only for select dates, so you had to be flexible about scheduling. You also had to be fast:  the $15 fares were reported to be snapped up quickly.

There were somewhat higher introductory fares -- 39 to 99 dollars -- for several more dates, but there number was also limited.  And they're available only if you book by Monday, October 6th.

And there were cheap fares to Cancun for a few dates.

Frontier spokesman Todd Lehmacher says the cheap fares are to celebrate the return of scheduled service to Philadelphia, more than a year after the ariline moved most of its flights to Trenton, NJ.

"Philadelphia International Airport is such a convenient airport, and just the fact that it's the primary airport in the region, we just felt it was really important to have that presence in PHL, which one of the largest air markets in the world," he said.

Service begins in December.

Frontier will also be flying to Atlanta, Charlotte, and Chicago from PHL.
