Philly Weather: A Tale Of Two Weekends

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --
If you like the hot, steamy, humid conditions of summer, the next two days are for you. And you may want to cherish them; after tomorrow, there may not be anymore!

If you enjoy the cooler, drier conditions of late summer and early fall, you'll be delighted on Sunday.

Once some early morning fog burns off, Friday will feature some sun, and it will be hot and humid.

A widely scattered shower or thunderstorm could pop up later this afternoon into the evening. Keep an eye to the sky if you begin to see clouds building, but again, these storms should be isolated in nature.

Friday night will be mild and muggy, definitely a night for the A/C.

On Saturday, many places will again experience some thick patchy fog. Once that burns off, expect partly sunny and hot conditions through the afternoon. By the evening, a cold front will be sweeping across the Delaware Valley, brining a line of thunderstorms through the region. Some of these storms may be strong with heavy rain and dangerous lightning.

Once this passes through and the lingering clouds move out early Sunday morning, you will most definitely notice the difference! Temperatures will be around 10 degrees below Saturday's, with much lower humidity. Add in abundant sunshine, and you have yourself a pretty nice Sunday! It's perfect weather for the Eagles' home opener.

The sunshine sticks around through the early part of Monday, but we will be watching some coastal moisture moving up from the south that could bring back in clouds and showers through the midweek.

Today's Highs:

Shore - 85
Poconos – 82
