PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Chris Stigall spoke with Kurt Schlichter, author of Conservative Insurgency, on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about the political drama and scandals emanating out of Washington D.C.
Schlichter said the Department of Veterans Affairs has let down our soldiers that need the care we promised to give them.
“We owe them. We made a commitment. We shook their hands, looked them in the eye and said ‘You go out and fight our wars, we will take care of you,’ and we haven’t been keeping that commitment. It’s about time somebody gets that steel toed boot and go apply it to the VA,” he said.
He also disagrees with Republicans and other critics of the President who believe he should be impeached and argued the best way to change the politics in Washington is to prevail in elections.
“There’s a dispute between the Executive and the Legislative, ‘let’s let the Judiciary figure it out,’ but impeachment, it’s a political thing, it’s a political act, and we lose the politics on it…We would lose. Why would we fight that battle? …Let’s go change some minds. Impeachment? How about we win instead? Why even bother?” Schlichter stated.
Schlichter envisions conservatives rallying people around the ideas of our founding fathers as a way to reshape the nation’s political thinking.
“I’m talking about changing the mind of our culture. Get them back to what those guys back in 1776 and 1787 and all those other 17s. We’re talking about a country where liberty matters, where patriotism matters, and free enterprise matters. Let’s get that country back. Let’s change people’s minds so they want that, so next election, it’s not between some guy that’s mediocre and some guy who’s a dang communist,” he commented.
