Police Investigating 2 Arson Cases In Middle Township, NJ

MIDDLE Twp., N.J., (CBS) – Police are investigating two cases of arson that happened early Thursday morning in Middle Township, Cape May County.

Middle Township Police say at 3:09 a.m., they received a 911 call reporting a fire in the 1200 block of St. Andrews Drive in the Swainton section of the township. While Cape May Court House Fire Company and patrol units were responding to the area, police say they received a second 911 call reporting a fire in the 1400 block of St. Andrews Drive.

As units were arriving on scene, police say it was immediately known that the fires were due to arson. The fires were quickly put out by Cape May Court House Fire Company.

St. Andrews Drive is part of the Links of Avalon development which consists of townhouses.

The Cape May County Fire Marshall along with the Prosecutor's Office responded to assist the Middle Township Major Crime Unit with the investigation. Police say preliminary investigation indicates one or more suspects put gasoline in plastic containers around the perimeter of the two buildings.
