Teens Focus On The Future At Conference In North Philadelphia

By Michelle Durham

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Teens from all over the city gathered at Temple University Wednesday for a unique conference. It was designed to keep them focused on the future.

Brandon Hubert is a recent Central High grad who is assisting organizers, and he says this event draws teens "from all over the city."

"We have some from South Philadelphia, North Philadelphia and West Philadelphia. Some of them are actually starting to become friends and a lot of them want to do teaching," he said. "So it is good for them to learn from each other."

There were different seminars throughout the day, including one with motivational speaker and life coach Antionette Capri.

"Everything that they have inside them, they need to have come out. And this is a conference that is going to help them realize that," she said. "And recognition is the key."

The day concluded with a concert and dance contest. Friendships formed with an eye on the future.
