Phillies Go For Second Straight Win Against Marlins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies continue their eight-game homestand tonight with another game against Miami.

This is game three in this four-game series, the teams have split the first two. Last night, the Phillies picked up a 7-4 victory behind David Buchanan.

That win improved the Phillies to 35-41 this season, they started the day six games out of first in National League East.

A.J. Burnett will start on the mound tonight for the Phillies. He is 5-6 this season and coming off a complete-game win in St. Louis last time out. Of course, Burnett splayed his first seven MLB seasons with the Marlins, winning 49 games. This will be his fifth career start against his old team, he has gone 2-1 in the first four with a 2.70 ERA. In two starts this season against Miami, Burnett is 1-0 with a 4.82 ERA.

The Marlins counter with right-hander Henderson Alvarez who is 4-3 this season with a 2.39 ERA. When he is good he is very good, as he leads all of MLB with three complete-game shutouts.
