WEATHER BLOG: Warming Up This Week

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Another pleasant day across the Delaware Valley with some sunshine Sunday, but the jet stream trough in place has kept highs once again well below average.  Temperatures on Sunday only made it to the mid and upper 60s, making it feel more like April.

Mostly clear skies on Sunday night will allow for temperatures to drop down into the 40s once again for Monday morning.  Another pleasant day will take place on Monday with high temperatures reaching the low 70s in the warmest locations, still below the average high of mid 70s.

If you want warmer weather, wait until Tuesday as the jet stream trough begins to lift out of the Northeast.  This will allow temperatures to warm back up to near and above average for the middle of the week.  Tuesday will be much warmer with sun & clouds with highs reaching the upper 70s.

A warm front will then bring more clouds around on Wednesday with some showers and storm chances and highs in the mid 70s.  It remains warm on Thursday with still a shower chance and highs above average into the upper 70s.

However, a cold front will pass by and cool temperatures back down for the start of Memorial Day weekend.  As of now, it looks mainly dry with highs in the low to mid 70s for the holiday weekend.
