Airline Lets Passengers Choose Who They Sit Next To By Using Social Media

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Who you end up sitting next to on a flight can really make or break the start of a vacation, and one airline may have just come up with a solution.

South African Airways has launched a "Social Check-in" option that promises "no more boring flights."

The airline set up a 'social seat selector' that uses details provided on the passenger's Facebook page. It then helps them select who they want to sit next to.

A seat map will show other passengers' Facebook details, but they too must sign up for the feature.

Those who sign up are able to control what information is visible to others.

The social check-in is available for both local and international flights.
