76ers Seeking Team's Luckiest Fan To Boost NBA Draft Lottery Mojo

By Paul Kurtz

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- When 76ers team officials head to New York City next Tuesday for the all-important NBA Draft lottery, one lucky fan will be going with them.

The question is, who will that fan be?

Consider it a lottery before the lottery. The 76ers have announced an online contest in which one person will be randomly selected to win an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City and bear witness to what should be a pivotal moment in the franchise's history.

CEO Scott O'Neil says the winner will be selected next Monday. "All you have to do is go to sixers.com and register."

O'Neil is pleading for those with lucky tendencies to register.

"We want the man or woman who as a child won every bingo game in school, who has scored very successfully on lottery tickets, who has a lucky rabbit's foot in his or her pocket, and will wear the lucky socks," he says.  "This really matters. We want good karma and good luck rolling into this entire day and night."

The Sixers are guaranteed a top five pick.  But they also own the New Orleans Pelicans' first-round pick, which could be about the tenth overall selection.
