CEO Of Helicopter Manufacturer To Receive Award From Philadelphia World Trade Center

By Pat Loeb

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Tonight, the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia will present its Global Business Leadership Award. The winner is definitely someone who hovers above the crowd.

William Hunt gives new meaning to the term "helicopter parent." The father of five is also the CEO of AgustaWestland Philadelphia, a helicopter manufacturer in the northeast -- not far from where he grew up. Hunt is Philadelphia through and through -- an alum of Ryan, Spring Garden College, Villanova and weekends at the shore -- but the products he makes circle the globe.

"We, from Philadelphia, deliver aircraft to Malaysia, the Philippines, to the Middle East, to Russia, to Brazil, to Canada."

That's a key reason the World Trade Center is recognizing Hunt. President Linda Conlin says the company enhances the region's economy and status in global business.

"They have increased revenue and production of their helicopter aircraft with over half of these aircraft being produced for export markets."

Conlin credits Hunt's leadership and vision. Hunt took the helm in 2012 but has been there seven years, in which the company has grown, attracting employees from across the country.

"Bringing together all of those people has also brought diversity, different mindsets, different experiences that have helped us become a strong operating company."
