Spring Fest And Plant Sale At Bartram's Garden

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Check it out. The Spring Fest & Plant Sale at Bartram's Garden is open to everyone Saturday and Sunday May 3 and 4th from 10 to 4. This year the sale has a special feature - a beautiful selection of heirloom roses in celebration of the restoration of their Carr Garden - along with vegetables, herbs, and lots of native perennials, shrubs and trees, including the Franklinia tree pictured here.

Bartram's horticulturalists will be there to answer questions and help you pick plants for your garden.

And, as you look around your yard and see broken branches from this winter, you may take heart from some works of art inspired by wood from thirteen kinds of trees that fell at Bartram's Garden during a dramatic storm a few years ago. The works from artists around the world will be on exhibit starting this Friday and into July at the Center for Art in Wood at 141 N. 3rd Street, and a few of the pieces will also be on display at Bartram's Garden during the Plant Sale this weekend.
