5-Alarm Fire Breaks Out At Berks County Motel

MUHLENBERG, Pa. (CBS) — Firefighters battled a blaze that broke out inside a motel in Berks County Wednesday.

The fire was first reported at about 10:50 a.m. at the Klein’s Motel in the 4800 block of North 5th Street Highway in Muhlenberg.

The motel sits next to an industrial building that houses chemicals.

When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames billowing from the building. There were reports of a partial collapse.

The fire at one point reached five alarms.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
