39 Arrested, More Than 13,000 Bags Of Heroin Recovered In New Castle County Drug Bust

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) – Drugs, money and weapons were seized in what authorities in New Castle County call the largest single heroin seizure in the police department's history.

According to police, a team of law enforcements officials, including the FBI and DEA, assisted in the joint operation.

The officers conducted a five day operation, resulting in the arrest 39 people and the seizure of more than 13,000 bags of heroin.

New Castle County Executive Thomas Gordon says, "The commitment we have today is if you live in a county and you're selling drugs in a county to the city, or you're buying drugs in the city, we're going to come after you. We're going to own your car, possibly your house and you're going to go to jail."

The drugs were found during an investigation in the Silver Springs Apartments.

The drugs have a street value of nearly $42,000.

Authorities also seized three guns, one of which was reported stolen from Pennsylvania.

The total amount of money seized from the drug investigation totaled $24,464.
