Philadelphia Police Officer Facing Charges After 2013 Incident

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – An off-duty Philadelphia police officer has been arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, assault and related charges.

According to the DA's office, the incident occurred on Oct. 20, 2013 around 2:45 a.m.

The victim was reportedly walking near the 1100 block of South Ninth Street when the off-duty officer, 34-year-old Edward Sawicki III, reportedly backed his car into the victim, hitting his knee.

The victim contacted police, and Sawicki was identified as an off-duty Philadelphia police officer.

The gun shown in the alleged incident was a city-issued firearm and was confiscated.

Sawicki is now facing charges of making terroristic threats, posssession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct related to the incident.
