Police In Gloucester County Investigating Alleged Assault On Rowan Student

GLASSBORO, NJ (CBS) – Police in Gloucester County are looking into an alleged sexual assault on a Rowan University graduate student.

On March 24 around 11:56 p.m., a female reported she was assaulted while pulled over on the side of the road along Route 322 in Glassboro, potentially near the area of the Hidden Creek development.

The woman, a Rowan grad student, said she'd pulled over and exited the car to rearrange her belongings inside the vehicle when two men grabbed her, pulled her in front of the vehicle and accosted her.

The victim described the males as white and both wearing black clothing with their faces covered by some kind of mask or scarf. She believed one man was in his 40s and the other in his 20s.

The victim also said she didn't see a car with the men and couldn't tell where they'd come from or what direction they'd fled in. After the suspects left the scene, the victim returned home before coming back to Glassboro to report the incident to police.

The alleged assault reportedly occurred between 9 and 9:30 p.m.

Rowan University sent out a community alert about that incident.

"Notifies people that this incident did happen so they can be aware of what's going on in their surroundings, but two, to see if there's anybody that saw anything and maybe saw -- maybe they didn't see the assault but they saw the guys and maybe they can report back," Jose Cardona of Rowan University said.

Anyone who observed a dark-colored vehicle on the westbound side of the road near Hidden Creek or saw any suspicious males or behavior is asked to call police.
