CHELTENHAM, Pa., (CBS) – Police are investigating after a man was shot during a home invasion robbery in Cheltenham Monday evening.

Officers were dispatched at 4:37 p.m. to the area of Cottman Avenue at Central Avenue for the report of a man running in the area holding a silver handgun.

Upon arrival, Cheltenham Police say officers located a 25-year-old male victim lying on the ground outside of a house on Central Avenue. The male was bleeding heavily from the head, but was conscious and alert. Police located a second victim, a 26-year-old male, inside of the same house suffering from a gunshot wound to the knee.

The alleged victims told police that the suspect entered the second floor apartment through an unlocked front door. According to police, the suspect then allegedly held the victims at gunpoint and demanded that they turn over all of their money, their wallets, cell phones and any money from their safe.

Police say the suspect then allegedly shot the 26-year-old male in the right knee and pistol whipped him. The 25-year-old male jumped out of the second floor window to escape.

Police say a brief struggle ensued between the male shot and the suspect, which led the suspect to flee on foot.

Police describe the suspect as a Black male in his 20's, 5'10", 200 pounds, with a beard wearing a black puffy coat, black beanie style hat, black pants carrying a silver handgun. The suspect was last seen running from the residence and then west on Jefferson Avenue.
