World's 100 'Selfiest Cities' Ranked
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – TIME has compiled a list of the cities that take the most selfies. Thankfully, Philadelphia isn't on it.
Now that we've got that out of the way, what are the selfiest (or most self-obsessed) cities?
According to TIME, Makati City and Pasig in the Philippines is the "Selfie Capital of the World," with 258 selfies per 100,000 photos. The city of 500,000 snagged the dubious honor of most selfies per capita.
Unsurprisingly, New York City came in a close second with 202 selfies per 100,000, and partying hotspot Miami, Florida ranked third.
To calculate the rankings, TIME says it built a database of more than 40,000 Instagram photos with the hashtag #selfie and included geographic coordinates. Only cities with more than 250,000 people were considered, and some nearby cities were combined.
While the list spans the globe, three U.S. cities fell in the top five – the aforementioned New York and Miami as well as the combined Anaheim and Santa Ana, California area.
