1 Killed After Car Rear-Ends Trash Truck In Delaware County

MEDIA, Pa. (CBS) -- Investigators say one person was killed after a car slammed into the back of a trash truck in Delaware County early Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at about 7:15 a.m. in the 400 block of State Road in Media.

Media Police say a small car struck the trash truck, which had stopped at a red light at the intersection with East State Street. They also said that it appeared the small car did not brake before the accident and that the exact cause of the crash remains unknown.

The trash truck driver was not injured; however, a passenger in the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to Riddle Hospital.

The driver of the car, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is not being identified until his/her family has been notified.
