PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - City Hall was the site of the first ever “Good Food is Good Health Care Awards.”

Local food distributor Tatiana Garcia Grenados, co-founder and director of Common Market, says five area hospitals were recognized for their commitment to providing healthy, local food in their cafeterias.

“Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Einstein, Pennsylvania Hospital and Jeanes Hospital,” she said. “This event is about recognizing the hospitals that are really working hard to make sure that all of our relationships with food matter.”

Her organization helps bridge the gap between farms and hospital food service directors.

“Something that we found is that even if there is a demand for food from the local farms, there just isn’t the connection and a hospital food service director can’t be making 20 different phone calls to make sure that they get everything delivered that they’re going to need that day.”
