DOVER, Del. (CBS)—Police are investigating an attempted robbery of an eight-year-old boy as he was walking through Pinewood Acres Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Scotch Pine Drive and Loblolly Pine Drive around 5:15 p.m.

The young child told his mother that a black man approached him when he was walking home from his friend’s house and threatened to stab him if he did not hand over all of his money.

The boy turned to run away when the suspect allegedly lunged at him with a knife.

The child was able to dodge the attacker and make it home without any injuries.

The man was last seen entering a white work van with tinted windows.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Troop 3 at 302-697-2104.
