2 Confirmed Dead After Fire In Atlantic County

ESTELL MANOR, NJ (CBS) – Crews responded to the scene of a fatal fire in Atlantic County Tuesday morning.

Chopper 3 was over the scene in Estell Manor.

The fire broke out around 6:50 a.m. in an RV behind at residence at Cape May Avenue and 10th Avenue.

Two people were confirmed dead around 8:55 a.m., a male and a female. The female was pronounced dead on scene, while the male was taken to Vineland Hospital, where he was also pronounced dead.

Fire Chief Robert Gibney says, "One person was pulled out by homeowners. They had initiated CPR upon our arrival. We continued CPR and transported that victim to a medical center in Vineland. Unfortunately, with the amount of fire that was involved in the trailer, it was impossible to rescue the second victim."

A person in an adjacent house was injured on the hand trying to enter the camper and rescue the people inside, but they were not transported to the hospital.

As of now, the cause of the fire is unknown.

The victim's may be related to the people who live in the home, but it is unclear how they are related.

The fire remains under investigation, but it does not initially appear to be suspicious.
