PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It is a disturbing statistic from the National Institute of Drug Abuse – sixty percent of 12th graders do not view regular marijuana use as harmful.

As for the overall statistics: 6.5% smoke marijuana daily. To give you an idea of the issue, twenty years ago it was 2.5%.

Breaking it down, 23% of seniors reported smoking marijuana within the last month, 36% in the preceding year. Among 10th graders, 4% reported using marijuana daily, 18% used marijuana in the past month, and 29.8% used it within the past year.

Do you want to go younger? 12% of eighth graders reported using marijuana in the past year.

It is clear that there needs to be more education given even earlier than previously thought.
