Nasty Weather Causes Minor Delays At Philadelphia International Airport

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The weather was causing some delays Monday at Philadelphia International Airport. According to the FAA, due to low clouds and fog, some arrivals were seeing delays averaging about 30-minutes.

Airport officials were keeping an eye on weather, both in Philadelphia, and at destinations across the country.

Airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica said this is a busy time of year for travel, and urged travelers to allow extra time for catching a flight, and she encouraged anyone picking somebody up at the airport to use the airport's cell phone waiting lot.

"Just minutes from the terminal building, there's 150 spaces," said Lupica, "and also three flight information display monitors right in that parking area."

Lupica also reminded anyone flying that wrapped gifts are not allowed through security, and with the weather, whether you're coming for a departure or arrival, it's a good idea to check with your airline by calling 1800-PHL-GATE or visit PHL.org for flight information.
