Recipe For Melted Snowman Cookies From Town Crier Bakery

CUT OUT BUTTER COOKIE RECIPE
.5 cup butter
.5 cup shortening (Crisco)
1.5 cups white sugar
2 eggs
.5tbl spoon vanilla
3.5 cups all purpose flour
1tsp baking powder
.5tsp salt

Process: cream butter and sugar until fluffy, add eggs and vanilla scrape bowl then mix 2 minutes, add flour and salt mix in then add baking powder. Mix in, do not overmix! Place in bowl or pan cover and chill for approx 2 or 3 hours before using.

Rolling: roll out dough on cheese cloth or floured surface approx 1/4in thick use circle cutter (if you don't have circle cutter use jar, lid etc). Place on cookie sheet and bake 375* for 8 to 10 minutes (hint: edges should be light golden in color). Let cool.

ROYAL ICING:
2 cups confection sugar
2 tsp cream of tarter
6oz egg whites

Process: In a clean bowl add sugar and cream of tarter, using wire whip or beaters for mixer slowly add egg whites mix on high speed for 3 to 5 minutes be sure to remove all lumps, you can adjust egg whites more or less to your preferred thickness of icing. When finished mixing cover icing since it will begin to crust and harden.

You can add color to icing if preferred to dress up your designs.

Place cookies on table or work space pipe small amount of icing on top of cooled cookie, spread slightly with spatula, if it is not smooth that is ok since no two snowman melt the same way! After icing cookies, place marshmallow cookie on top of icing to make the head. After placing head take small amount of icing (I use black color to mimic coal nose and eyes) and draw face on marshmallow, you can also draw earmuffs, hair whatever you choose. After head is complete use small black color to draw arms and hands to the side of the head. You can choose to add a scarf at the base of your snow head. Allow your cookie to dry, you can personalize your cookie by writing names on the snow top.

Allow to dry then enjoy!
