Phillies Officially Sign RHP Hernandez
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies have officially announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Roberto Hernandez.
The deal is for one year, and $4.5 million, and does include performance bonuses, general manager Ruben Amaro announced. The signing was first reported last week by several media outlets.
Heranadez, a 33 year old right handed pitcher, formerly played under the assumed name Fausto Carmona until 2011.
Hernandez has pitched in eight MLB seasons, most recently with the Tampa Bay Rays. He has a career record of 59-82, with an ERA of of 4.67 and a WHIP of 1.416. Last season for the Rays, he went 6-13 in 24 starts, with an ERA of 4.89.
