PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia homicide detectives say they still have no suspects in the stabbing death of a 69-year-old Germantown woman.
The victim, who was found dead by her roommate inside her Wayne Avenue apartment on Monday evening, has been identified as Carol Ambruster, a retired Villanova University Assistant Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics. According to the University, Ambruster started at Villanova in 1987, and taught at the University until retiring in 2011.
“The University was saddened to learn of the death of Carol Ambruster, and our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends,” the school said in a statement released Wednesday.
Armbruster was pronounced dead at the scene suffering from a stab wound to the throat.
A murder weapon was recovered and police say detectives are now hopeful that surveillance video in the building or the neighborhood will yield some clues.
The homicide remains under investigation.
