Snow Squalls Force Cancellation of 100+ Flights In and Out of PHL

By Tony Hanson and Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Shortly after the snow started this morning, the number of flights listed in red as "cancelled" started growing.   There were over a hundred by noon.  Airport spokesperson Victoria Lupica said there were 117 cancellations by about 1:30pm, when the storm subsided.

Elizabeth and Donald Skinner saw their flight back home get scratched during their layover here.

"Our flight from Florida was fine," said Elizabeth.  "We got here on time, everything was fine, we were supposed to leave at 2:30, and our flight is cancelled!  So, we go to Syracuse, hopefully. I'm hopeful, I'm hopeful."

They were scrambling -- and did she mention hopeful? -- for getting out of Philadelphia.
