Shoppers Brave The Weather And Hit The Stores

By Syma Chowdhry

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It was a beautiful sight as folks in the Philadelphia area went shopping in a winter wonderland.

At the Plymouth Meeting Mall, crews worked to clear the sidewalks and parking lots for those who braved the weather.

"I did do some holiday shopping for myself. But the people in there seem to think that people who have the day off of work might decide to do some holiday shopping later on," said Mark Prince, a shopper.

Even though the snow made it harder to run errands, shoppers like Prince didn't want to miss a good deal.

And some didn't mind the weather.

"Love it -- oh yeah, absolutely. I'm a big guy, so this is made for me," one shopper said.

But those working outside weren't as excited.

"What's hard is the slush, trying to push these carts in the slush," a worker said.

Still, folks say empty stores on a snowy day help them get in and out faster.

"It's a good day to go, there is nobody in there. No lines. There is nobody shopping," said shopper Dana Natale.

For kids, the best part of the snow is a day off.

"I woke up at 7:20 and said, 'Shouldn't we be getting ready for school?' And she said, 'No, we don't have any,'" Natale's son, Luke, said.

And there are big plans after a day of shopping...

"I'm going to go sledding at my friends house!" Luke said.
