Coach At Junior High School In Pennsylvania Charged With Molesting Boy, 13

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) -- A basketball coach at a Pennsylvania junior high school has been suspended from his job and jailed on charges that he molested a 13-year-old boy at least six times since September.

Pequea Valley School District Superintendent Erik Orndorff says 23-year-old Jonathan Masteller was hired two weeks ago after passing background checks. He also served as a substitute teacher, but is indefinitely suspended from that position, too.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Masteller who was arrested Tuesday and faces a preliminary hearing Dec. 13 on charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

Police haven't said how Masteller knew the boy, but the school district says it is not aware of any allegations of misconduct on school property or during school-sponsored activities.

Masteller remained in the Lancaster County Prison Wednesday, unable to post $250,000 bond.
