PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two people have been taken into custody after law enforcement officers with the Pennsylvania SPCA removed several malnourished dogs from a South Philadelphia home Friday night.

The PSPCA says they received a call about a dog tied to a pole in the home's backyard at the 2100 block of S. 22nd Street.

The dog died as it was being taken to the PSPCA shelter hospital.

Other dogs and puppies in poor condition were removed from the basement.
