Groundbreaking Thursday On Innovative New Health Care Facility In Bensalem

By Brad Segall

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) - A healthcare company will break ground this afternoon in Bucks County on a comprehensive healthcare center that company officials say will revolutionize the way people in the Philadelphia region get their medical care.

The Lifestyle Comprehensive Healthcare Center in Bensalem will be a 200,000 square foot facility where patients can get most if not all of their healthcare needs under one roof. The goal is to make it more convenient for people to schedule their appointments to see doctors in one location.

Lifestyle Healthcare Group CEO Fred Rappaport says the business model for delivering health care is changing.

"I think we are going to see more outpatient services rather than the inpatient," he said. "The hospitals are fighting to fill beds now and really most of these procedures can be done in outpatient centers."

Medical specialties will include a women's center, general surgery, cancer treatment, plastic surgery and orthopedics. There will also be an attached skilled nursing facility for overnight stays.

Completion is expected in early 2015.
