WILMINGTON, Del., (CBS) — Wilmington Police are investigating the robbery of two teenagers as they walked to their school bus stops Thursday morning.
Police say at about 6:30 a.m., a 14-year old victim was walking to his assigned school bus stop in the 2700 block of North Jefferson Street when he was approached by a suspect. According to police, the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The suspect took the victim’s backpack and cell phone and fled in an unknown direction.
The second robbery occurred at 6:45 a.m. the same morning. A 15-year-old victim was also walking to his assigned bus stop in the 1800 block of North Jefferson Street when the robber wielded a handgun and demanded the victim’s cell phone.
The first suspect is described as a Black male, 5’08” to 5’09” and was last seen wearing all dark colored clothing. The second suspect is described as a Black make, 5’08” to 5’10” and was last seen wearing all dark colored clothing.
Wilmington Police are asking residents to be vigilant and to conceal cell phones during their travels.
The investigation is ongoing.
