WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Delaware State Police will be present at Concord High School in Wilmington, Delaware Monday after the school received threats over the weekend.

Officials with the Brandywine School District say the school received offensive, threatening messages Saturday morning and that they take all threats seriously.

The school will operate under normal hours Monday, with police officers and school safety personnel on the premise. Officials say only two entrances will be open and bags will be checked.

Students are encouraged to arrive early and follow police instruction.

The district’s superintendent, Mark Holodick, said in a message to parents that the safety of the students is the primary concern.

Parents were told if they decide to keep their child home Monday and send a note on Tuesday explaining the absence, it will be considered an excused absence.

Police are investigating the situation.
