Male Shot While Walking With His Girlfriend In Southwest Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--On Saturday morning at approximately 1:45 a.m. a male and his girlfriend were walking on 6600 Upland Street in the Elmwood section of Southwest Philadelphia when they were approached by two unknown males.

The first suspect asked the male if his name was "O" and then pulled out a silver handgun.

As the male victim tried to run away he was shot once in the back.

After shooting the victim, the two suspects both ran off down Upland Street, towards 6700 Greenway Avenue.

Upon arrival, police observed the victim on the corner of 6600 Upland Street bleeding from the back and laying on the ground.

The victim was transported to the Hospital of the University Of Pennsylvania and is currently in critical but stable condition.

The first suspect  is described as a dark skin black male and the second suspect is described as a Hispanic male.

This investigation is ongoing.
