SINKING SPRING, Pa. (CBS) — A local Halloween attraction making national headlines is being forced to alter plans.

Thrill seekers were being offered a chance to stroll through a haunted house in the buff (see related story).

For 22 years, Patrick Konopelski has been running Shocktoberfest. This year is a cake topper.

“This is about vulnerability. We’re talking about getting your defenses down and walking through a haunted house with zero protection. It has nothing to do with sex. It has nothing to do with inappropriate behavior. That is not allowed,” he said.

This year Konopelski wanted to run his haunted house outside of Reading clothing optional, meaning people could bare it all.

It turns out this whole idea of having naked people run through the haunted house apparently didn’t sit so well with Township officials.

The whole naked and scared challenge grabbed a lot of news coverage.

“There are people who either don’t approve of this or don’t approve of what they think it is. There’s nudity and then there’s sex. This is not sex. This is basically nudity,” he said.

Now he’s just going with what he calls the prude option. That’s where people go through the haunted house in their underwear.

The ground rules are no one under 18 allowed, the underwear option will only occur after 10 p.m., and people only walk through the haunted house with the group they come with.

“To my knowledge it’s never been done anywhere in the world,” Konopelski said.

With a cost of $20 a person, Konopelski says he’s been selling tickets.

Friday night is the big reveal.
