UPDATE: Police ID Newlyweds Murdered At Wilmington Condo

By Todd Quinones, Andrew Kramer

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – New Castle County Police are investigating the double homicide of a couple that occurred early Sunday morning in Wilmington, Delaware.

On Monday, police identified the victims as a husband and wife, 39-year-old Joseph and 39-year-old Olga Connell.

Officials responded to reports of shots fired at the Paladin Club Condominiums on the unit block of Paladin Drive around 1:30 a.m.

Police say they found two victims, a male and a female, who were said to be a newlywed couple, married in June. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim was taken to Wilmington Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

One neighbor said there were signs of trouble in the early morning hours as he heard a man and woman loudly arguing.

"It shocked me when I heard about it," he said.

Bullet holes could be seen in the doorway of the building where the couple lived. The window was smashed and there were other signs of the violent confrontation.

"I can't believe that," neighbor Seymour Waxman said. "It was two very nice people and they're gone. I can't believe that."

According to neighbors, the husband owned his own auto repair shop. Police say the murders are not random.

Investigators are trying to track down a motive for the murders, but neighbors expressed some sense of relief knowing police believe this was not a random crime.

As of late Sunday night, police are not officially releasing the names of the couple.

No arrests have been made and no information is available on any possible suspect.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the New Castle County Police Department at 395-8110 or the Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.
