83-Year-Old Wheelchair-Bound Woman Attacked During Camden County Robbery

HADDON TWP., N.J. (CBS)— Police in Camden County are searching for a suspect who attacked an elderly woman during a break-in this past weekend.

The victim is an 83-year-old, wheel-chair bound woman, who was home alone when a man came to the front door of her Collings Avenue home in Haddon Township at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators say the man threatened to kill her if she did not give him money.

The victim briefly struggled with the suspect and was able to press a Life Alert device around her neck.

The man took cash from the elderly woman's purse and fled the scene.

Life Alert notified the Haddon Township Police that there was an incident. When police arrived, they found the woman had sustained bruises and lacerations. She declined hospital treatment.

The attacker is described as a white man standing about 5'6", with a medium build and blue eyes.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Camden County Prosecutor's Office Detective Gerald Torres at (856) 225-8617 or Haddon Township Detective Tim Hack at (856) 854-1176.
